Eva’s Ridge Farm is a small family owned farm in the outskirts of Captains Flat with efforts underway for stud pedigree Scottish Highland cattle and Black headed Dorpers.
We started our farming journey in 2014 and haven’t looked back, starting our fold in 2015, and from a modest number of cattle reaching 18 last month. Our focus is to retain more traditional farming methods, and having animals in non intensive or heavy commercial practices to promote affordability to other farms hoping to access this amazing cattle.
Eva’s Ridge is named after our 13 year old border collie Eva that was our first fur baby, whom has retired from active working dog life, but watches over own litter, and the animals happy to aid in any mustering works. The 'Ridge' is in relation to the somewhat steep land that is synonymous with Captains Flat.
Our biggest focus is on the welfare of the animals, ensuring shade, best water and feed is available, and to have the least stress for their lives, and live as animals should. The conservation of the animal is the forefront of what we do, and we have been granted life membership of the Australian Highland Cattle Association. Our hope is to continue with the safe and ethical breeding of these amazing creatures so other small producers and farmers can have the opportunity to have Scottish Highland Cattle.
Our farm is diverse and we hold agistment land in both the Captains Flat area as well as Murringo in NSW. All of our cattle are tagged, registered where they can be and we do not take deposits to hold animals for sale. We also don’t allow sale without inspection, and hold a strong preference against sale of single animals without the receiving property having sufficient companionship for the animal. We will usually do discounts on purchase of more than one animal.
Protect yourself from scammers. The unscrupulous low lives that seek to profit of peoples hopes by seeking deposits, or blind deliveries/pick ups are horrid people. Sadly we hear many stories of many people being caught out.
As a result we have made it safer for any future buyers.
- All of our animals will be registered (if possible) and any sales medium will direct the member to the Australian Highland Cattle Society Classifieds. If the animal is not on the classifieds, it doesn’t exist.
- If the animal is registered, it will be traceable to the AHCS site and easily verified.
- We will NEVER ask for a deposit, if someone does, its not us. Word or a handshake is sufficient for us. If we agree to hold, we will hold even if offered more by another buyer.
- We own the email domain @evasridgefarm.com.au and will always use this email for any inquiries and engagements.
- We do not do PayPal, never ever. Cash or bank transfer.
If you see an animal that has your interest or hope to be on our mailing list where we will do an initial notice before listing the animal, please email us at manager@evasridgefarm.com.au
We can facilitate transport, we bill $3.25 a km to use our float and deliver, this is based on the google maps route from gate to gate. We have the means for Cattle Transporters for greater distances, however, full payment must be received for the animal prior to transport.
Road warranty – on buying one of our cattle, you are buying the animal as is, we will ensure absolute health and welfare prior to sale. When you take physical possession of the animal with either your own transport or we deliver we no longer provide refunds. If we have concerns we will address them prior to sale. We do not sell animals that are unwell or where transport is unsafe. Thus we hold what we call the road warranty, where upon departure of the farm, responsibility of the animal is the new owner, any loss or damages lost departure of the farm is not attributable to us. Please be assured we will never sell an animal that is sick, unwell or otherwise at risk of illness. You are making a considerable investment and we will ensure you get the right animal. Please note if we are doing the transport, the road warranty will be based on the animal safely arriving at its selected location.
We take care of all administration, NLIS declarations, registration of pedigree and DNA proofing, all of which can be received on request. We provide full receipts and are registered for GST.

Yes, we can provide transport for small purchases. The price is $3.25 per kilometre from the township of Murringo, NSW, 2586 to the chosen address. The distance is based off the Google Maps direct route. All transport will be done to best ensure our availability and the welfare of the animal. Transport costs must be paid in advance. We also reserve the right to decline the transport should it be too far. I will use my digression as to what too far is :)
The beef from Highland Cattle is fit for Royalty, noting the Queen and her family have their own Royal stud and was reportedly the only beef they would consume. Whilst what you choose to do with the animal is up to you, we do not sell processed animals or carcasses. We sell them live only from the farm. The rest is up to you. We give no preference to buyers relating to the end purpose of the animals. Your animal your way :)
Sadly the popularity of this breed has some absolute monsters preying on kind people that are sold lies, many people have been conned. As a result we will not take deposits EVER until you have viewed the animal at our farm. Further, every animal we sell will be listed on AHCS portal and classifieds. If the animal you see being sold online is not on this website AND AHCS, assume its a lie.
Also if you need some assistance to verify a seller from another fold, we will happily check with the relevant agents to confirm the validity of the group. Of note, if the price is too good to be true, often it is. You can look up the AHCS members at this website https://www.australianhighlandcattle.org if they are not listed and with sufficient proof steer clear (pun intended).
We run what we call the 'asphalt' clause. Once the animal has left and the vehicle gets to the bitumen of the road, the transaction is complete. If at ANY time you are unhappy with the health or condition of the animal prior to purchase then do not go through with the sale. Should a deposit of been paid post your attendance at the farm, and in the time between deposit and collection the animal get sick or passes away, we will refund you. Of note this has never happened :)
Yes, in fact it is strongly desired. We do not take deposits over the phone or into our bank EVER. If we say we will hold the animal, we will. Should your view the animal and decide they are the best addition to your farm, we will discuss payment plans.
We accept cash and bank transfer. Our preferred method of sale is face to face with the buyer collecting from the farm. On purchase, all administration, receipts , genetic testing evidence, consignment waybills and registration updates to AHCS (as applicable) are provided.
We can facilitate loading on the farm onto horse floats, utes and cattle trailers and single axle trucks. We have an arrangement for large cattle trucks that can be enacted but requires a degree of coordination.
Our ramp can be adjusted to meet heights of 800mm to 1400mm.
